Many economic issues appear in wine production, distribution and consumption. There is a limited literature, little of which appears in the major journals, most in the Journal of Wine Economics, which does not have wide circulation. This session will highlight some recent research in a non-technical way and will go on to discuss major current issues such as the trend decline in wine consumption, the effects of climate change, the coexistence of micro producers with niche products and huge corporations distributing mass wines, the role of ratings and wine journalism in influencing consumption patterns.
